What’s Coming Up – Week of February 19-23, 2018

Hello parents! Whew! With winter break and a snow day mixed in, it’s been a long week of getting back into our rhythms and routines.  Never-the-less, we are keeping up with hard work as we continue through February.  We’ve completed and another social studies and science unit and are looking forward to tackling some heavier ELA units where we will be examining informational writing and take a deeper dive into what effective research looks like and how to report out our findings.

We have had some fun as well with a math review in rap form.  We use Flocabulary, a vocabulary review website that uses music and rap to reinforce concepts we’ve learned in the room.  In math, we have been learning all about division or whole-number and decimals and used Flocabulary to review what we’ve learned so far.  Students needed to write and perform a rap that taught us the steps through rhyming and examples, plus, it was fun to see them express their understanding in a different way!
